Does anyone here run???
« on: September 19, 2005, 05:32:52 pm »
I was just intrested if anyone did track or X-C here and perhaps discuss with. If you do track what events do you do? I do the 1600M and 3200M.

So does anyone here actually run and want to discuss?

I used to play Soccer, that involved a lot of running. :o

I do Cross Country now and then, but the last time I did a 'race' was a few years back, when I ran 1500m in 6:49.

I can probably do that a tad faster now though :o
Did you not think I had a mind?

I'm not too great at running longer distances, but I'm good at sprinting.
When I play Soccer, it's with small teams of about 1-5 people,
so running is pretty important. (It's a good thing. I can't kick accurately,
and I get to run more when most of the field is empty.)

Right with you there, SBW. I could run quickly if I could be bothered... but that's very rarely these days.

I am pro-not running. :o

Also wait what is flux? :o

Yeah. Now, all you need is a short obstacle course with shortcuts,
such as climbable walls/slopes, creeks to cross, and steep hills to slide down!
There are some conservation areas and parks nearby that would be perfect for that,
but there's only one problem...
I'm one of the only TSC members that can access this "Action Stage"! :(

as corny as it may sound, sonic has always made me want to be able to just run supaw fast

But seeing as how I am a slow old beaten camel cow poo, I do not think I will be running as fast as 1/300th of sonic's fastest speed anytime soon :(

I know what you mean. If no one's around to see you,
let your arms fly out toward the back to run like Sonic does. :p
If you want to feel like you're running really fast,
play Sonic Adventure using the "slow cam", as SEGA would call it (free cam),
use all of the characters a bit (including the characters that are more your size),
and then go out to run and watch as everything speeds by!
In the games, Sonic only looks fast because of the camera.
Using a free cam and comparing him to medium/tall characters
makes him look as slow as he is. He's less than 3 feet tall,
and it takes twice as much effort to run as fast as a human.
(I've checked out his speed, and I think it's in the lower 30s.[in km/h])

Ugh. How many times have I written (and corrected) "SOnic" in this post?

Here's a title screen for one "Action Stage".
I used a screenshot of City Escape, so I had to draw some letters myself.
(That wasn't such a good idea. Maybe I should have looked around for more screens.)
I know that there are still a few problems with it.

It's the name of a trail at the Heber Down Conservation Area in Whitby,
in case anyone was wondering about that.

Do I run competitively? No.
But, like almost every self-respecting citizen, I'll occasionally run in front of a bus or two, just to keep those damn drivers on their toes. And one day, when they aren't, I'll finally have the resources necessary to take down Microsoft....or at least certain libraries that enforce write-protection, random disconnects, and rent out books entitled "The Smart User's Guide to AOL"

I can barely run between classrooms.  How do you expect me to run X-C?
Me: Do you find it odd that CF's top two loves rank last in his Bouncy rankings? x_x
mike89: yes. yes i do.
mike89: but then i find CF odd.
Me: so do I.

I can't sprint for anything... that's why I'm distance. Is Austrailian football the same as American football or is it like rugby? That sounds really dumb doesn't it?

I'm pretty sure it's Rugby. I think only Americans play American football. Everywhere else, Football is Soccer/Rugby. I could be mistaken though, watch Andy come out of nowhere and say, "wtf are you talking about sonicam? :o"

Heh, how about I say it?

wtf are you on about sonicam? :o

Australian football is very unique, there's not really any other game even close to being like it.

It's the only code of football in the world without an offside rule, which allows for quick scoring.

And unlike rugby, it's football in the true sense, in that most of the time you actually kick the ball with your foot. :o

Of course, I don't expect any of you to have any idea what I'm on about (except Andy, of course, but even then he'll probably complain about how badly I explained it).

Meh, I'm no good at explaining stuff. Especially stuff I don't have a particularly great interest in.

Andy will do a far better job, if he could be bothered.
